Data are presented which demonstrate that, if applied properly, ceramic fiber linings can provide a cost effective long life installation in process furnaces. The author presents design parameters that should be considered in the project planning stage and recommendations for success. The discussion is presented under headings - process heater recommendations; catalytic reformer recommendations; and pyrolysis reformer lining techniques.
