ANSI/ISA SP82.01, created by the SP82 committee from CSA, ISA and UL as a significant revision to the ANSI/ISA SP82.01 Standard for Electrical and Electronic Test, Measuring, Controlling and Related Equipment, has harmonized effects with the International Standard IEC 1010-1, which is recognized as the safety standard for process control equipment including DCS and PLC systems. Among the revisions manufacturers are likely to change, include: (1) user instructions providing additional information on permitted operating environment; (2) extension of hydrostatic testing that includes equipment operating on low pressures; (3) spacings withstanding ION forces; (4) imposed limit of equipment that generates ionization, laser, UV, or microwave radiation. Parameters such as pollution degree, installation categories, impulse with standing voltage and comparative tracking index are those that harmonize the standard.
