摘要
A nine-step synthesis of the potentially biologically active tide compound, 9,has been achieved starting from salicylaldehyde and involving two 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions and a lactamisation reaction. The cis configuration of compound 9 resulted from that of compound 4 which was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
