Successful trapping of fusiform aneurysm of the superior cerebellar artery - Case report

The authors report on a rare case of successfully operated fusiform aneurysm of the superior cerebellar artery. In a patient in whom headache was the only symptom, computerized tomography findings revealed a hyperdense formation in the interpeduncular cistern surrounding the left crus cerebri. Suspect vascular formation was angiographically confirmed. Trapping of aneurysm was performed by combining the Yashargil's approach to the basilar artery bifurcation for its proximal segment and subtemporal transtentorial approach to the lateral and median, branch of the superior cerebellar artery. Natural anastomoses of the superior cerebellar artery (plexus pedunculi) were intraoperatively evaluated by monitoring of the median and tibial nerve somatosensory evoked potentials and brain stem auditory evoked potentials.
