Perturbation theory applied to autoionizing states

摘要
The problem of determining the positions and widths of autoionizing resonances is expressed in a perturbational form and the sum of all perturbation corrections evaluated by a variational procedure. The method is applied to the 2s2p 1P resonance of helium. The calculated resonance position and width is 60.133 eV and 0.037 eV respectively.
