Our discussion is concerned with the common effect of the non-uniformity of the layer rotation and stratification. We have assumed a model of the differential rotation with the upper part of the layer rotating more slowly, the bottom part more quickly. The upper part of the layer is stratified stably, the bottom part unstably. In the case of strong differential rotation the thermal instabilities are preferred and they are the most easily excited by the strong magnetic field (LAMBDA congruent-to 10(2)-10(3)). The direction of its propagation is westward in the uniformly stratified layer and predominantly eastward in the non-uniformly stratified one. We have compared the stability of differently stratified layers by the adjusted Rayleigh number which represents the total amount of the thermal energy released in the layer by driving of the instability.
