ANALYSIS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ICT IN SECONDARY EDUCATION. CURRENT TECHNOLOGICAL TRENDS

In the framework of an increasingly globalized world technology plays an essential role and it is a decisive factor for the living conditions of the people. In this global context and specifically in the educational area the technologies offer new sceneries and pedagogical tools available to teachers and students, acting as promoters and managers of the learning and teaching processes. In this present study an extensive analysis is undertaken to understand the evolution, the implementation and the influence of the use of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the educational context at an international level. In this study we conducted an analysis of current trends and the relationship of ICT with strategies and learning styles in the educational field, both nationally and internationally. The methodology used is based on exploratory and documentary research, in which different documentary sources have been consulted. Although the analyzed data indicate that the pace of growth and penetration of ICT is growing, the available data show that there is no apparent relationship between the level of ICT equipment in the classrooms and the frequency of use by students and therefore in its academic results. In this sense, the improvement of academic performance may occur when new strategies and learning styles are combined with certain computer resources.
