The Urgency of Knowledge: Ethical Dilemmas of Social Work in the Construction of Knowledge

Throughout history, human beings have consolidated and preserved different types of knowledge; however, in today's world the production of knowledge is a strategy organized from the specific space of scientific knowledge. This text, which is the result of a process of inquiry into critical practices as opposed to the scientific stance, discusses the need to construct critical knowledge with a potential for transformation on the basis of praxis in Social Work. These reflections are based on the premise that social workers can produce knowledge, while at the same time developing their professional judgment in different ways.
