摘要：
Stem cell, the master cell of a living body, has potency to regenerate or differentiate into new cells. Stem cell research is a highly interdisciplinary field of research in life sciences. The recent status of stem cell research in India has been focused here. The problems and prospects of this research in biological and clincial field, have also been discussed.
