摘要
In the United States, children ages 0-6 years are mandated to be vaccinated for a variety of diseases prior to being allowed to attend government-sponsored pre-schools, day care facilities, and public schools. This is because the diseases are considered harmful and preventable for the most part. The government, under the rationale of parens patriae, has a right to require the vaccinations for the greater public health. Families that do not abide by the laws face various consequences from the schools and through the court system.
