Competence is characterized as a set of capabilities, skills, aptitude, expertise, and experience. The 21st century value-driven healthcare system is believed to require keen insight and attention to quality, safety, cost and the patient's experience. Efforts to shape this envisioned future state of healthcare is considered to be transformational with a line of sight on efficiency and effectiveness strategies.
