The French Revolution involved a series of fundamental changes. The revolutionary ideas arrived in the Capitania General causing major concerns among the colonial authorities, who began to detect revolutionary ideas and agents in every element that had anything to do with the French. The Haitian Revolution generated even more unrest and fear of slaves. From then on, any tension or attempted uprising would be related to the revolutionary influence.
