ABRASIVE WEAR-RESISTANCE OF DUCTILE IRON WITH DIFFERENT SECONDARY STRUCTURE

The presented results show that the wear resistance of ductile cast iron is dependent upon the metallic matrix, hardness being not alone the governing factor. If the same hardness of the metallic matrix is obtained one time by quenching and tempering and another time by austempering, the bainitic structures with considerably higher residual austenite content exhibit higher wear resistance.
