WEAR-RESISTANCE OF MACHINE STEELS UNDER ABRASIVE WEAR

Steels for the fabrication of components used under severe conditions of a power loading and wear are usually chosen on the basis of mechanical properties given in reference books. Some of these properties can characterize the wear resistance of the steels under various conditions of contact interaction, i.e., be a wear-resistance criterion. The article analyzes the relation between wear resistance and mechanical properties, making possible a substantiated choice of the chemical composition of the steel and hardening conditions to ensure high breaking strength and wear resistance.
