摘要
The expansion of the power sector, given the various environmental impacts of electricity generation, is worrisome without due care for the environment. The aim of the present study was to analyze electricity consumption patterns and its costs, with emphasis on lighting and air conditioning, at the Campos Guarus campus of the Fluminense Federal Institute. A diagnosis conducted through the analysis of electric bills was conducted, as well as visits to different administrative sectors and classrooms and interviews with the staff. A number of alternatives to reduce energy consumption was proposed, in addition to an economic viability analysis of these measures. Moreover, material describing good environmental practice actions was distributed. The results indicate that there is a misuse of energy at the campus, requiring the need for continuous awareness and sensitization actions by campus users. The performed calculations demonstrate that is possible to achieve energy savings by applying efficient exchanges in the lighting system, and that LED bulbs were the best option for this economy, bringing about swift returns of invested resources.
