摘要
Risering is a process designed to prevent the formation of shrinkage voids in a casting upon solidification. To produce a sound casting, the riser (or reservoir of liquid metal that compensates for shrinkage) must satisfy two independent requirements. The first is riser size. The second is riser placement, which must be determined according to the feeding resistance of the cast alloy. In the work described here, the process of riser design and placement was automated.
