COMBINED 2-4-PSK AND ITS APPLICATION IN BLOCK-CODED MODULATION

摘要：
In this paper a new modulation scheme - combined 2-4 PSK - is proposed. It combines 2 PSK and 4 PSK and gives a gain of about 1.4 dB over conventional 2- or 4 PSK at an error probability of approximately 10(-5). The modulation scheme is then used with block codes for coded modulation. Two simple examples are given which at the same data rate and bandwidth requirement as uncoded BPSK give coding gains of 2 and 5 dB at an error probability of 10(-6).
