Mindfulness for Pediatrics: Evidence-Based Resources

Mindfulness meditation is gaining a foothold in disease prevention and treatment. Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to what is happening in the present moment without judgment. While the interest in mindfulness is expanding, finding evidence-based resources for pediatrics is frustrating. Searches in PubMed, MedlinePlus, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and KidsHealth. org get few results. This article will review books and multimedia materials available for those interested in mindfulness for pediatric medicine. Parents and health care professionals will benefit from carefully selected, evidencebased resources on mindfulness for pediatrics. This article provides a starting point.
