摘要
Infective endocarditis in infants is relatively uncommon. When it does occur, it is most often in patients who have undergone cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease. Although various species of Candida are the most common cause of fungal endocarditis, Candida tropicalis is rare. In this paper we report a case of endocarditis caused by this organism that involved the aortic valve and a mycotic aneurysm of ascending aorta in a 14-month-old girl. Echocardiography confirmed the diagnosis and surgical and medical management resulted in complete recovery.
