EFFECT OF MULTIPOINT IGNITION OF HYDROGEN-AIR MIXTURES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EXPLOSION IN A CLOSED VESSEL

The effect of several simultaneously acting ignition sources on the dynamics of combustion of lean hydrogen-air mixtures with a H-2 concentration of 8, 10, and 15% (by volume) in a closed 20-m3 vessel was studied experimentally. It was found that combustion noticeably increases on changing from one to two sources, but with a further increase of their number to five, the characteristic time of occurrence of the process changes little. When the sources are arranged one over the other with a 20-cm spacing, the general picture of the temporal change of pressure is similar to the case of one source.
