Rogers' therapeutic conditions: A relational conceptualization

This article addresses a number of confusions still present in person-centered and experiential literature regarding Rogers' therapeutic conditions. The article frames the conditions in a relational perspective; clarifies what Rogers wrote about the conditions, their necessity and sufficiency (Rogers, 1957, 1959a); argues that the term ''the core conditions'' is confusing and unhelpful; and discusses the three ''lost conditions''.
