摘要：
The purpose of this brief paper is to highlight and expand on some observations in a paper by A. F. Daughety and to extend his list of future research directions. These comments are divided into three categories: issues involved in the analysis of intercity transport systems, issues surrounding urban transport systems, and issues related to private sector applications of the results of this type of research.
