摘要：

This article aims to study Macunaima de Mario de Andrade in the historical perspectives and structural analysis of Claude Levi-Strauss. The literary work, in this perspective, combines an interpretation mediated by the myth, as well as the political group involved with the artist. In Brazil of the 1920s, a kind of reforming optimism emerges among the elite of the democratic in the State of Sao Paulo. The hypothesis of this article is that the artistic creation of Mario de Andrade can be conceived as an expression of this elite engaged in a modernizing reform of Brazil.
