摘要
Parody and self-parody are two of the most relevant features of David Toscana's El ultimo lector. These resources are means by which we can explain the critical and disenchanted world view that the text offers through parody of novel-writing manuals and criticism of the writer's function in society. Besides these features, there are links with the Mexican Novel and with the biblical tradition, so that, together with the parodic discourse, there is an intertextual procedure which places the text within the literary tradition and at the same time also allows Toscana to reformulate the aesthetic mecanisms of the Mexican Novel.
