Land use planning and agricultural land use vocation in Venezuela

With the introduction of the concept of land-use vocation in the current Venezuelan legislation, lands with favourable conditions for agriculture production has been affected as well as the whole land-use planning process. The latter should be preceded by an evaluation process of land-use vocation for an appropriate land-use allocation. It is also a problem for the land-use planning at the national level, because even when exists different methodological approaches to evaluate land-use vocation, these has not been included in the process for formulation land use plans, instruments that will permit to execute the recently established national legislation for lands and agricultural development in Venezuela.
