Copolymers of methyl methacrylate with N,N-dimethylacrylamide were synthesized by a charge transfer mechanism using a mixture of n-butylamine and carbon tetrachloride as initiator in dimethylsulphoxide at 60-degrees. The compositions of the copolymers were established by elemental analysis. The reactivity ratios were determined by both Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tudos methods. The copolymers were characterized by i.r, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR and thermal studies. The solubility parameter of the copolymer was evaluated by studying the intrinsic viscosity in various solvents.
