THE LOCO-HILLS BIFACIAL CORE CACHE FROM SOUTHEASTERN NEW-MEXICO

Caches of stone artifacts are a common phenomenon on and around the margins of the Llano Estacado of eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. Since caches can provide important clues about population movements, seasonality of occupation, and competition for resource areas, special effort should be made to record and describe them. Dating caches is a major problem which must be overcome in order to make maximum use of this cultural information. This report describes eight bifacial cores recently recovered from southeastern New Mexico.
