摘要：

The inhibitive action of benzimidazole (BIA), and some of its derivatives, viz. 2 aminobenzimidazole (ABIA), 2-hydroxybenzimidazole (HBIA) and 5-carboxybenzimidazole (CBIA) towards corrosion and dezincification of 70/30 brass in ammonia solution has been investigated using weight-loss, solution analysis and galvanostatic polarisation techniques. All the compounds have been found to follow langmuir adsorption isotherm and behave as mixed inhibitors. Inhibitive efficiency was found to follow the order: ABIA > HBIA > BIA > CBIA.
