摘要
Today's satellite systems, both for Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) and mobile application, mainly use the geostationary (GEO) orbit. Only the USSR has been using highly inclined (HINC) orbits, the attractiveness of which has increased during the last years also in Europe for "global" FSS as well as for "regional" mobile communication applications. This paper summarizes main communication aspects of such satellite systems, based on outcomes of recent studies performed for ESA as well as for the German PTT, in which ANT has been investigating some communication aspects.
