The article presents the results of the analysis of formal representation of the derivative nominal nouns in the Slavic (Polish, Ukrainian, Belorussian and Bulgarian) as well as English languages. The data for the analysis were collected from the multilingual subcorpus of the National Russian Corpus. The study brings into discussion the idea that the Slavic language derivational system might be regarded as a cultural linguistic code for conceptual structures. Linguistic realization of interpersonal evaluation by means of derivative nouns "tolstyak", "grubas", "tovstun", "tawstun", "debelak" is presented as a case study for the above hypothesis. The analysis revealed that the Slavic languages under study do exploit their derivational system (suffixation) in the context of interpersonal evaluation. It is discussed that a derivative noun, being a compact but semantically loaded language unit, allows a speaker to express his attitude to another person implicitly. The English language on the contrary employs explicit predicative constructions to evaluate a quality of a person.
