摘要
This paper reports on several experiments carried out to determine the difference limen for the perception of sound duration and to find the effect of frequency difference on duration discrimination in pairs of pure tones. Experiments wee carried out to evaluate the relative contribution of frequency and amplitude envelopes to the perception of sound duration. Pure-tone signal pairs were presented to subjects. In different experiments the frequency, amplitude, shape of rise/decay, and duration of the tone pairs were modified. Duration-discrimination thresholds for the tones and the signals that were varied in frequency were investigated together with those of the fixed signals. The effect of pitch difference on duration discrimination was investigated in both musicians and non-musicians.
