摘要
In this paper, we study the progressive penetration of current in a good conductor as the penetration depth delta increases. More specifically, we perform this task for the canonical problem of a circular cylinder immersed in a low-frequency incident E-wave. The material of the cylinder is a nonmagnetic good conductor, and we examine the evolution of quantities such as the fields at the surface and the radiative losses. Particular attention is devoted to the limits delta --> 0 (which corresponds to a perfect conductor) and delta --> infinity (which leads to the cylinder becoming transparent).
