A Case of Tinea Incognito Caused by Trichopyton Tonsurans

Tinea incognito is a dermatophytic infection, which mimicks other skin disorders because of the modified typical clinical presentation of ringworm by the improper use of topical and systemic steroids. In this report, the case of a 35-year-old woman with erythematous lesions on her face and right arm who had been diagnosed with eczema, contact dermatitis and had been treated with topical steroids for over a year is described. The culture performed from the lesions showed Trichophyton tonsurans. The presented case was found to be significant as being the first case of tinea incognito caused by Trichophyton tonsurans and has been discussed in the view of the literature.
