DESIGN OF GEOTEXTILES REINFORCING EMBANKMENTS WITH REFERENCE TO LONG-TERM LOADING

In this paper a brief introduction is given to a method of designing the geotextiles reinforcing embankments. Several aspects are considered: deformation and consolidation of both subgrade and embankment; partial activation of yield on critical slip surface in the embankment; deformation behavior of geotextiles under long-term mechanical loading. Consideration is limited to only reinforced embankments which have stable side slopes. Steep sided embankments with multilayer reinforcement, similar to reinforced soil walls, are not included.
