PRODUCTS FROM THE LIME INDUSTRY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL-PROTECTION

Based on the statutory regulations an indication is given of the possible uses of lime products for environmental protection. Examples are given of their main areas of application in the fields of exhaust gas cleaning and drinking water decarbonation. The examples of hydrated lime of high surface area, finely-divided milk of lime and granular material for forest liming are used to show how the lime industry faces up to the more recent requirements in various sectors of environmental protection. The lime industry carries out carefully directed joint research projects to retain and extend the sales of lime products in the environmental protection market. This is demonstrated by the example of lime used for sewage sludge treatment and waste water cleaning.
