Engendering Attitudes Toward Immigration Policy: The Impact of Justice and Care

Scholars have debated the existence of, difference between, and impact of gendered ethics based on either a rights framework or an ethic of care. This study utilizes original national survey data. Scales are constructed to test for and explore how the uses of different ethical frameworks lead to divergent opinions and policy prescriptions regarding immigration policies in the United States. The final discussion explores implications for understandings of gendered ethics and public opinion formation.
