摘要：
Like other information-intensive fields, the legal profession presents a wide range of information-management problems. In this article, an experienced consultant and marketing expert in the optical disk industry provides the brief tour of the ways in which information technologies can address those problems. Bar-coded indexing systems for paper documents, optical disks, micrographics, imaging, and CD-ROM each provide distinctive benefits and costs; only the exact needs of each legal organization should determine which combination of technologies to use.
