摘要
We present arguments in favor of the idea that supersymmetric nonlinear sigma models with compact symmetric Kahler spaces as target manifolds have a second-order phase transition in four dimensions. When applied to electroweak symmetry breaking, these models then do not require a light Higgs boson or techniresonances but predict fermionic superpartners of longitudinal W's and Z's with masses at or below the TeV scale. The presence of the phase transition leads to a fractional-power energy dependence of the fixed-angle scattering amplitude of longitudinal W's and Z's at high energies.
