MODE-LOCKING OBSERVATION OF A CO2-LASER BY INTRA-CAVITY PLASMA INJECTION

摘要
A TEA CO//2 laser was simultaneously Q-switched and mode-locked when an underdense plasma was injected into the cavity. The plasma was produced in an electromagnetic shock tube. Plasma density and temperature were N//e approximately equals 10**1**7cm** minus **3 and T//e approximately equals 2eV, respectively. Phase perturbation of the cavity due to the time dependent plasma refractive index could account for the observed mode-locking. 13 refs.
