摘要
Over the past hundred years organizational activities have caused devastating damage to the natural environment. In response, environmentalism has emerged as an influential intellectual current, and as a worldwide mass movement. Despite these trends, Organizational Studies as a field has failed to engage seriously in environmental discourses. Organizational theories cannot adequately address environmental concerns because of their limited ideas of 'organizational environment'. This paper identifies and critiques these limitations. It proposes an alternative view of organizational environment as an economic biosphere. It examines the implications of this view for creating more nature-centred (green) organizational theories.
