摘要
Mixed ligand complexes of the ruthenium(II) ion using chiral Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde, chloro- and methoxysalicylaldehyde and L-histidine with mono- or bidentate nitrogen bases such as azide, imidazole and 2,2-bipyridyl have been synthesized. The characterization was performed by microanalysis, IR, UV-vis {H-1}, C-13{H-1} and P-31{H-1} NMR spectroscopy, conductance measurement, optical rotation, CD spectral studies and electrochemistry. The conformational aspects regarding the asymmetric carbon atom and the nitrogen containing ligands around the ruthenium(II) metal ion have been discussed. The complexes show quasi-reversible behaviour in cyclic voltammetry and the redox potentials of the Ru(II)/Ru(I) couplies lie in the range -0.12 to -0.29 V.
