摘要：
Advances in computer and communications technologies will provide new capabilities in high resolution image capture, high speed processing of data, high density storage systems, and integration of data, voice and image information, and process cooperation across distributed, heterogeneous systems. Current activities at NIST support US Government requirements for standards and technical assistance to exploit advanced technologies. © 1990.
