A modification of the method of measuring the energy of the electrons in a high-current electron beam by the attenuation of bremsstrahlung in the filter material is described. The beam geometry is narrowed by collimators in front of and behind the filters. The target's current density is measured by detectors at significantly different distances away from the target. The formulas for calculating the bremsstrahlung field from distributed sources are used to estimate the source sizes. The procedure was tested on beams produced by a VIRA-1.5M generator.
