The life cycles of professional associations have received little attention in the literature. Using the Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association as an example, the author discusses the general dynamic underpinnings of systems and organizations, and caveats for the leaders of professional associations. © 1991 Human Sciences Press, Inc.
