An overview on foreign languages for non specialist students in higher education: evolution and convolutions

摘要
After briefly discussing the social and political context underlying the birth of the LANSAD (foreign languages for non specialist students in higher education), the article describes how Language Resource Centers, based on the learning paradigm, have developed. It will then analyse the use of new vocabulary (autonomy, self-directed learning) and the disruption in teachers' roles. This analysis will result in suggesting new directions so as to overcome the recurrent obstacles in teaching non specialist students.
