RESPONSE OF A MODIFIED SURFACE-ACOUSTIC-WAVE (SAW) SENSOR SYSTEM TO CHANGES IN DIELECTRIC-CONSTANT AND SOLUTION CONDUCTIVITY

摘要
A modified surface acoustic wave sensor system consisting of a 250 MHz resonator and a pair of parallel platinum electrodes in series was characterised. The frequency shift of the sensor varies almost linearly with dielectric constant and solution conductivity. Linear frequency shifts were observed as the water content of organic solvents increased. This SAW sensor system was employed to determine the critical micellar concentration of sodium dodecyl sulphate. The temperature dependence of the sensor system was also examined.
