摘要
Necessity to have environmentaly friendly lubricants have stimulated search for biodegradable base fluids. Health and safety aspects are being increasingly integrated along with technoeconomic considerations in modifying lubricating base oils manufacturing processes and developing lubricant formulations involving new generation base fluids. Current developments and alternatives being pursued on this vital/industrially important subject are reviewed.
