Introducing Intercultural Education in the classroom of Spanish as a FL through the use of songs

摘要
The present proposal of an educational practical experience aims at improving the reading, speaking and writing skills, and the acquisition of vocabulary of the students of Spanish as a foreign language by means of activities designed according to the educational approach of Intercultural Education. These activities are specially planned for teenage students with an A2-B1 level of Spanish and they are framed within a project whose ultimate objective is to compose a mashup, a song created from excerpts of different songs. This mashup is meant to be composed from songs in Spanish which have a positive message with respect to the integration and respect towards foreign cultures. Through activities devoted to understanding and reflecting upon the songs, we achieve to enhance our students' motivation and level of Spanish, promote critical thinking, reduce the impact of cultural and linguistic barriers, overcome stereotypes and prejudices, and create a classroom atmosphere based on trust and respect.
