摘要
This paper is part of a program of systematic ethnography of the plain north of the Rio Motatan, Venezuela, which carries out a team from the Universidad Nacional Experimental "Rafael Maria Baralt". Are analyzed, this time, the three (3) water communities (pile-dwelling) that exist in the area on the shores of Lake Maracaibo. The methodology was ethnographic, interviews with key informants and participant observation. It concludes that these communities exhibit a symbolic dualism in the form of an opposition town / Monte and Inside / Out, which serves to organize the space and interact with neighboring populations.
