摘要
In sulfuric acid solution, the rate of reaction of chlorine with formic acid is proportional to formic acid and chlorine concentrations and is inversely proportional to the acidity function h}. The kinetic parameters are nearly identical with those for the reduction of bromine to bromide ions by formic acid. The two reactions a appear to follow similar mechanism-equilibrium ionization of formic acid followed by direct reaction of a formate ion with a hologen molecule.
